Blaire

Blaire awoke with a start in the morning, an unfamiliar alarm going off somewhere near her head. She had just a few seconds to realize it was Marley’s phone on the bedside table before Marley woke up and uncurled herself from Blaire’s side.

“Ugh, is it morning already?”

“Looks like it,” Blaire said, blinking the sleep from her eyes. “We didn’t get a whole lot of sleep last night.”

“Nope,” Marley agreed, crawling across Blaire’s lap to reach for her phone and silence the alarm. Then she sat down again facing Blaire, her breasts bare and inviting in the early morning light. “Not that I’m complaining.”

“Me neither,” Blaire said, putting her hands on Marley’s waist, intent on maneuvering her onto her lap and taking those gorgeous breasts into her mouth one after the other.

But Marley resisted and let out another groan. “I can’t.”

“It’s Sunday morning,” Blaire pointed out. “Do you have somewhere to be?”

“Yeah, actually,” Marley apologized. “The four of us at the clinic take turns going in on the weekends to feed and monitor overnight patients. It’s my weekend.”

Blaire took the phone out of Marley’s hand and checked the time. “It’s seven a.m. – can’t you just stay in bed with me a little bit longer? The puppies and kitties can wait.”

Marley gave her a pout. “They can’t. By the time I get showered and dressed and drive over there, it’ll be eight, and a couple of them are on pretty strict feeding schedules. I’m sorry.”

She leaned in and gave Blaire a kiss that started out innocent and damn near turned into a full-blown make out session. Marley dragged herself away and Blaire watched as she got out of the bed and went to the closet along one wall to retrieve a bath robe.

“I have to hop in the shower,” she said. “I’d invite you to come with me, but after last night, I have a pretty good idea of how long we’d be in there.”

“It’s okay,” Blaire said. “Your apartment is actually pretty close to my mom’s condo – I can go over there and see if she wants me to give Toby his morning shot. Rain check on that showering idea, though. That’s tempting.”

She gave Marley a wink as she got out of the bed and stood there stark naked, trying to remember where in the apartment they’d left their clothes. Living room, she thought as goose bumps began to prickle her skin.

Marley crossed the room toward her again, pulling Blaire into the softness of her robe. “Are you leaving right this minute?”

“I probably should, if you don’t want me following you into that shower,” Blaire said. “But I want to see you again soon. What are you doing tonight?”

Marley looked regretful. “I made plans to go shopping with Kiran. She’s presenting at a big avian medicine conference next month and I told her I’d help her pick out an outfit or two.”

“Tomorrow night?” Blaire asked.

“Free as a bird,” Marley said with a smirk. “What do you have in mind?”
